Cricket World Player of the Week - Shreyas Iyer

Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer had a slow start to the ODI World Cup but has caught up well and looks all set for the knockouts.
Shreyas Iyer registered his career-best ODI score against Netherlands as India posted a mammoth 410 runs and hammered the opposition by 160 runs in the last league stage match of the showpiece event.
This was India’s second-highest total in ODI World Cups and the highest on Indian soil.
Iyer remained unbeaten on 128 runs from 94 balls against the Netherlands, striking 10 fours and 5 sixes. As a result, he also became the first Indian batter to score a century against the Netherlands in ODIs.
Iyer has scored the most runs (421 in nine matches) for India as a middle-order batter (No.4 to No.7) in a World Cup edition. Iyer joined hands with KL Rahul for the biggest partnership (208 runs) for the fourth wicket in World Cup history.
Iyer had a long layoff due to a back injury and returned for the Asia Cup. He had another setback during the tournament but has now more than cemented his spot with the stage all set for the knockouts.
