Cricket World Player of the Week - Yuzvendra Chahal

Rajasthan Royals' leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal currently sits at the top of the IPL 2022 wicket-taking charts with 17 scalps.
Rewind six months or so and Yuzvendra Chahal was not having a great time. He was dropped from the Indian squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup after indifferent series against Australia and England and a poor outing in the first half of IPL 2021.
Although the spinner bounced back in the UAE leg of the competition, he was not recalled into the T20 World Cup squad.
After India suffered a massive disappointment in the tournament, getting knocked out in the group stage itself, Chahal was brought back into the fold and clicked instantly.
Since the beginning of IPL 2022, he has been right on the money and sits at the top of the wicket-taking charts with 17 wickets from 6 matches at an average of 10.35 and an economy rate of 7.33.
He has already picked up one four-wicket and one five-wicket haul in the competition. His maiden IPL five-wicket haul came against Kolkata Knight Riders in a high-scoring game where he turned the match on its head in a single over.
Despite leaking 38 runs from his first three overs, he was given the responsibility of bowling the crucial 17th over and passed with flying colours, picking up four wickets including a hat-trick and guiding Rajasthan Royals to their fourth victory of the competition.
